Commentary: The arabic above reads Grand Mufti of Al-Azhar and the war based on this translator https://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/956858-assassins-creed-ii/53558356. It seems to have depicted a battle where the Assassins openly fought the Templars. Looking at the Assassin's equipment, I can't imagine it going very well for them. They also appear outnumbered. The battle appears to take place at Al-Azhar mosque in Cairo, Egypt. It is possible each figure represents a certain number of soldiers. To summarise, it looks like a battle between the more numerous, better resourced Templars against the Assassins, uphill. I guess nothing ever changes...
