16. So, the Assassins were behind the Tunguska incident. In 1908, what is believed to be a large meteorite smashed into the earth at the densely wooded Tunguska. It was a singular moment in human history, if it had hit a densely populated area it would have caused pandemonium. Subject 16 implies that the Templars had were behind the burning down of Tesla's lab and the subsequent loss of his experiments. The Assassins asked Tesla to destroy the staff of Eden, I don't know what the Templars planned to do with the staff. It is referenced as an "alternate wave generation device." Though Abstergo hadn't conducted any research. Apparently, the Tunguska explosion was either the force required to destroy a PE or even a result of destroying it. It was possible that the staff's "wave generation" quality had something to do with it.
17. It seems the Assassins got Hitler. Hitler was meant to meet with someone called C; likely Churchill.
"They engineered the war, they engineered the peace."
Churchill and Roosevelt had secret meetings on the Atlantic in order to determine how to get American intervention into the war. This was prior to Pearl Harbor. Everything isn't planned, people are too dumb for that. But nevertheless, its hard to believe the leaders of the world are merely reactionary.
18. "Manufactured to obey."
The glyphs were a great idea. Keeping with the "information learned is more valuable then information given" theme, Des and his team has the player discover the truth piece by piece, on their own. The end point is the horrifying realisation that the pieces of Eden were not designed to control humanity. Humanity was designed to be controlled by the pieces of Eden.
19. "It happened before. The pieces were once part of a whole."
Is this a reference to Eden? Or is this literal? Were the pieces of Eden once a whole? Or were they part of a network that was a whole? So many questions, and everyday even more....
Anyhow, Subject 16 points out the sun's cultural power over mankind and suggests this is due to the Toba catastrophe. 16 specifically points out that the Toba catastrophe was not a volcanoe. But I guess Ubisoft didn't care. Nevertheless, the sun, in a solar flare of some kind, managed to wipe out most life on earth, including the first civ.
I have a theory regarding this. The Templar launch date and the date of the second catastrophe: 21/12/2012. It seems too....coincidental. Was Toba originally manufactured somehow? Did the PE somehow cause it? Was it an accident? Could the Templars be bumbling into the same mistake? Or are they intentionally burning the world? Could this be their new world order?
